Molds can be made of wood, logging, mud, aluminum alloy, steel and other materials. Different materials of the mold each have different advantages and disadvantages. 1. Common wood mold
Common wood molds are the cheapest kind of mold. It is to put ordinary wood on a CNC milling machine for preliminary processing to get a rough surface of the initial mold. It should be noted that the surface of the initial mold is rough and can not be used directly. If used directly, the surface of the carbon fiber shaped parts produced will be uneven. Therefore, before use, we need to sand the surface to smooth it before we can use this mold to produce.
2. Substitute wood mold
Substitute wood is to replace wood material. In most cases, resin is used to make molds. This mold is better than ordinary wood molds. The surface is very smooth, and there is no need to sandpaper for grinding and post-processing. So it will cost more than ordinary wood. Usually, customers will choose resin to make molds with smaller size and higher quality requirements.
3. Clay mold
Mud at room temperature hard and fine texture, can be carved. In high temperature curing state, can become extremely hard. In the early days, mud was widely used in traditional body design. Foam mud mold is to glue the cut foam mold to each other, and then smear the oil mud on the surface of the foam, and manually treat the surface smoothness. This mold has low cost, long time consumption, but short service life, not suitable for high precision and mass production.
4. Aluminum alloy and steel mold
Aluminum alloy and steel and other metal materials as mold materials, good durability, long service life, can meet the mass production of products. There is also the metal mold surface smooth and high precision. It can produce carbon fiber products with good surface and high precision. But it needs takes a long time, usually at least half a month and the mold cost is high. Although the mold cost is relatively high, the mold fee only needs to be paid once. If it is a long-term project, the unit price allocated to each product is relatively low, and the mold cost can be ignored.
