Dronecarbon specializes in producing high-quality carbon fiber sheets, leveraging advanced manufacturing technologies like autoclave and vacuum forming. Our products cater to aerospace, automotive, and drone industries, offering unparalleled strength and lightweight properties. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, Dronecarbon is committed to delivering custom solutions and exceptional customer service.
We offers various full carbon fiber plate that is made of real carbon fiber without any impurities such as fiberglass. On both sides, we use 2x2 twill or plain weave fabric while the inner is unidirectional. Our regular size is 400x500mm/500x600mm and we could ship it within 3 working days. If you need other sizes, we can customize it for you. The largest size we can do is 6000x6000mm and the thickness could reach 30mm. (Any size with this range we can do) Welcome to customize.
Differences Between 0°/90° Carbon Fiber Sheets and Quasi-Isotropic Carbon Fiber Plates
When comparing 0°/90° carbon fiber sheets to quasi-isotropic carbon fiber plates, the primary distinctions
lie in their fiber orientation, mechanical properties, and applications.
Fiber Orientation
0°/90° Carbon Fiber Sheets:These sheets consist of layers of carbon fibers oriented strictly at 0° and 90°.
This configuration provides maximum strength along the two primary axes but is weaker in off-axis
directions, particularly at 45°.This orientation is typically used for applications where loads are primarily aligned with these axes.
Quasi-Isotropic Carbon Fiber Plates: In contrast, quasi-isotropic plates incorporate a balanced arrangement of fibers,
typically including orientations at 0°, 90°, +45°, and -45°. This design ensures that the material exhibits uniform
mechanical properties in all in-plane directions. The inclusion of ±45° layers enhances performance under torsional
loads and reduces weaknesses associated with off-axis bending.
Mechanical Properties
Strength and Stiffness: 0°/90° sheets are strong along the 0° and 90° axes but can experience significant deflections
(up to 50% more) when subjected to loads at other angles. Quasi-isotropic plates, however, provide more
consistent strength and stiffness across all directions, making them suitable for complex loading scenarios.
Performance Under Load: Quasi-isotropic laminates are designed to handle twisting and off-axis loads effectively,
making them ideal for applications such as aerospace components where
multidirectional strength is crucial. Conversely, 0°/90° sheets may suffice for simpler
applications where loads are predictable and primarily aligned with the fiber direction.
Applications
0°/90° Sheets: Commonly used in structural components where load directions
are well-defined and primarily axial. They are often less expensive due tosimpler manufacturing processes.
Quasi-Isotropic Plates: These are preferred in high-performance applications such as aerospace,
automotive, and sporting goods where multidirectional strength is necessary.
Their complex layup increases manufacturing costs but provides superior mechanical performance.
Carbon fiber plates find applications across a wide range of industries due to their exceptional
strength-to-weight ratio, stiffness, and resistance to fatigue. Here are some key applications:
Aerospace:
Aircraft structures: Used in aircraft components like wings, fuselages, and control surfaces
to reduce weight and improve fuel efficiency.
Spacecraft components: Ideal for lightweight yet strong parts in satellites, rockets, and
spacecraft structures.
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs): Crucial for building lightweight and durable drone frames.
Automotive:
High-performance vehicles: Used in body panels, chassis components, and interior parts
to enhance performance and reduce weight. Common in racing cars and luxury vehicles.
Electric vehicles: Contributes to weight reduction, improving battery life and overall efficiency.
Sporting Goods:
Racing bicycles: Frames, forks, and other components are made from carbon fiber for lightweight
and high-strength performance.
Golf clubs: Shafts and club heads are often constructed from carbon fiber to improve swing
speed and accuracy.
Tennis racquets: Offers a powerful yet lightweight frame for improved control and swing speed.
Ski poles and skis: Provides superior strength and lightweight design.
Industrial and Commercial:
Robotics: Used in robotic arms and other components for lightweight and high-strength performance.
Medical implants: Some medical implants utilize carbon fiber due to its biocompatibility and strength.
Pressure vessels: Its high strength allows for the creation of lightweight and durable pressure vessels.
Chemical processing equipment: Used in applications requiring resistance to corrosion and high strength.
Construction: Reinforcement in concrete and other building materials for increased strength and durability.
Electronics: Used in circuit boards and other electronic components due to its lightweight and electrically insulating properties.
Other applications:
Protective gear: Found in helmets, body armor, and other protective equipment.
Musical instruments: Used in some high-end musical instruments to improve sound quality and reduce weight.
The specific application of a carbon fiber plate will depend on its size, thickness, weave pattern, and resin system used in its manufacturing.
These factors influence the final mechanical properties and cost.
