Many manufacturers use cheap but poor-quality carbon fiber raw materials in their production. Some suppliers use good materials, but do not bother to check the quality, resulting in poor quality.
There are many factors that affect the price of carbon fiber, many people just compare prices blindly without comparing the quality of the carbon fiber boards. This is not correct. Purchasing carbon fiber sheeting is definitely a time when "you get what you pay for." Many people may say: I can only look at the price at the beginning, should I buy a carbon plate from each supplier to compare? The answer is certainly not. If you need to buy a carbon fiber plate from each supplier before making a decision, it's too time-consuming and money-consuming. In this article, we will teach you how to buy a quality carbon fiber board without any real product comparison.
1) Ask the following questions before you confirm the order
a. Ask what raw material did the suppliers use?
There are 2 kinds of carbon fiber cloth common in the market. (Toray carbon fiber cloth and Taili carbon fiber cloth) They vary greatly in hardness and strength. Toray>Taili
b. What is the density of the full carbon fiber plate?
I have investigated the carbon plate density on the market is about 1.5-1.6 g/m³. And our is at least 1.7 g/m³.
c. Ask about the thickness tolerance of the carbon plate.
Most carbon fiber boards on the market have a thickness tolerance about +/-0.15mm. There are also +/-0.1mm or more accurate. The thicker the board, the harder the tolerances are to control.
d. Ask about the Ingredient and weight
Full carbon fiber plate is lightweight and strong. And should be made of 95% carbon + epoxy resin. If you found a supplier's price is relatively low, you can ask about the weight. Before, some suppliers will mix in some other cheap core material, such as glass fiber, so as to make the selling price lower and attract more customers.
When you get these answers, I think some vendors have been eliminated.
2) Ask the supplier to take some pictures of their carbon fiber sheet. You need to emphasize that the pictures are real, not processed by photoshop.
a. You can check textured
High-quality carbon fiber texture must be clear and beautiful. The texture must be complete and not interrupted suddenly.
b. Check the board whether have pinholes.
We have some customers who mentioned that the boards they bought before had a lot of pinholes. Some will be white circles.
c. Whether the full carbon fiber board has a flat surface.
A high-quality full carbon fiber board has a flat surface, there should not be warps or any bends in the sheet. Neither should there be a big difference in the thickness tolerance of the sheet. (It is normal if the tolerance is controlled within +/-0.15mm) Also, no bumps or dents
3) Ask how they pack the package
We all know that the surface of the carbon board is easy to scratch, especially the glossy carbon fiber sheet.
Although the glossy carbon fiber plate is very easy to scratch, it shouldn't have scratches if it hasn't been used. The gloss finish should look like glass, and shiny.
Good packaging can prevent the board from being scratched during transportation.
Our packaging has three layers. Firstly, we will cover a layer of film on the surface of the carbon fiber. Then, wrap a few layers of shockproof bubble wrap. Finally, pack it in a suitable box.
